ARTIST STATEMENT
I approach all of my mosaics as unique works of art, one of a kind masterpieces with the unmistakable mark of handwork,
and tactile quality you want to reach out and touch. Expressions as an artist for me comes
through the medium of mosaic, the methodical rythems of the actual work is truley the song in my life. The
emphasis of my work combines eye-catching style, exquisite craftsmanship along with textural differences to
create dimension and depth in the artwork by miximg colors and materials that broaden the visual experience.
BIO "Mosaics have been
a dominant force since childhood" says New Mexican native Erin Magennis who is a second generation mosaic
artist. Although she has a background in graphic arts Erin also has a tile contractor's license. She originally
started by working with ceramic tile and in 1994 began incorporating glass along with kiln-fired elements
into her works. Her unique combination of skills and creativity allow her to complete works that extend from residential
commissions to public art as well as fine craft.
